Signs of ill-treatment were found all over his body”, a police source told H24 MEDIA on Tuesday

The mother and stepfather of a 4-year-old child found dead at his home in Stains (Seine-Saint-Denis) on Monday night have been charged with murder and remanded in custody, the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office announced on Friday 17 May. ‘Signs of ill-treatment were found all over his body’, a police source told H24 MEDIA.

After being taken into custody, the two adults were charged by an examining magistrate with murdering a minor under the age of 15 and remanded in custody, the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office said. The investigation has been entrusted to the Sûreté territoriale de Seine-Saint-Denis.

In 2023, more than 60 children were killed by their parents, according to La Voix de l’enfant, an association that compiles cases reported in the media. A report submitted to the government in 2019 estimated that one child was killed every five days.
