SNCF: Gradual Resumption of Traffic After Technical Incident South of Paris

TGV InOui and Ouigo traffic is gradually resuming this Thursday, February 6, 2025, after severe disruptions caused by a power supply failure on the high-speed line (LGV) South-East, near Marolles-sur-Seine (Seine-et-Marne). SNCF reports that its technical teams, mobilized immediately after the incident was reported, “have carried out the necessary repairs,” allowing for the progressive resumption of service.

Significant Disruptions and Major Delays

The incident, which occurred late in the morning, temporarily halted traffic south of Paris. Numerous TGVs were held at Gare de Lyon in Paris, with trains in operation running at reduced speeds between 30 and 50 km/h. Significant delays were recorded, including over three hours for InOui train 6611 heading to Lyon Perrache, 2 hours and 40 minutes for the Paris-Geneva train scheduled at 12:18 PM, and up to 2 hours and 20 minutes for OUIGO 7875 towards Montpellier. Several trains were also canceled, notably InOui TGVs bound for Lyon Perrache, Saint-Étienne, and Grenoble.

Crowd Management and Passenger Assistance

To handle the influx of passengers at Gare de Lyon, SNCF has implemented a “high traffic” management system to regulate access and prevent crowding. Passengers are being assisted gradually, and the company recommends checking the traffic status before traveling. Although the situation is improving, “cancellations and adjustments to the transport plan are still expected,” SNCF warns.

Trains scheduled to depart from 2:30 PM onwards were reported to be on time, marking a gradual return to normal service.
