Orange alert for violent winds in Haute-Garonne and Tarn from Saturday morning
Météo-France has issued an orange alert for violent winds in Haute-Garonne and Tarn starting at 10 AM on Saturday, March 8. A “sustained Autan wind event” is expected, with the wind intensifying early in the day. The strongest gusts, ranging from 100 to 110 km/h and locally up to 120 km/h, are predicted between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, especially in the Lauragais, the Castrais region, and at the foot of the Montagne Noire. In the Midi-Toulousain area, gusts could reach 100 km/h, and in the Tarn plains, exceed 90 km/h.
The wind intensity is expected to gradually decrease from Sunday afternoon. Météo-France notes that this event is significant enough to warrant particular vigilance, and a “further escalation of the alert level” is possible in the Aude and Aveyron regions, which are currently on yellow alert.
