Escape of Mohamed Amra: 24 Arrests, Including Rapper Koba LaD Among the Suspects

On Monday, March 24, 24 individuals suspected of playing a role in the escape of drug trafficker Mohamed Amra were arrested, including rapper Koba LaD, according to multiple sources. This wave of arrests is the fourth since Amra’s capture in Romania last February, following nine months on the run.

Among those arrested, some are suspected of helping Amra flee to Romania by car, while others allegedly assisted in hiding him in Rouen (Seine-Maritime). Certain suspects may also have been involved in planning the deadly attack on May 14, 2024, at the Incarville toll station (Eure), during which two prison officers were killed and three others injured. Two of the arrests took place in Germany, while the rest occurred in France.

Connections Between Koba LaD and Mohamed Amra

Rapper Koba LaD, 24 years old and previously convicted for assaulting his former manager, is among the suspects in police custody. Investigators suspect him of assisting Mohamed Amra during his escape. On Monday morning, he was taken from prison for questioning by authorities.

There are troubling connections between Koba LaD and the drug trafficker. In 2023, they shared a cell at La Santé prison with a third inmate. Additionally, several individuals arrested during the first wave of detentions following Amra’s capture were involved in violent incidents alongside the rapper. Some of the suspects are believed to be affiliated with the Black Manjak Family, a criminal organization based in Normandy, specializing in drug trafficking and linked to the rap scene.

Koba LaD’s label, BMF Agency (Black Manjak Family Agency), as well as his song BMF, have raised questions about his potential ties to this criminal network. However, his lawyer, contacted in recent weeks, has denied any involvement of his client in the Mohamed Amra case.

Since the drug trafficker’s arrest in Romania, 28 individuals have been indicted in this large-scale investigation, led by the judicial police under the authority of three magistrates specializing in organized crime. The investigation involves extensive resources, including the surveillance of hundreds of phone lines and advanced forensic techniques, in an effort to dismantle the network.
