Missing jogger in Vienne: gendarmerie appeal for witnesses

Missing Jogger in Vienne: Gendarmerie Issues Call for Witnesses

Subtitle: Strengthened Search Effort to Locate Agathe, Missing Since April 10 in Vivonne

The French gendarmerie issued a call for witnesses on Friday, April 11, seeking information regarding the disappearance of Agathe, a 28-year-old jogger who has been missing since Thursday, April 10, in Vivonne, Vienne. Agathe is described as 1.65 meters tall and weighing 35 kg. She was wearing jogging attire, a black pair of shorts, and carrying a shopping bag. According to the gendarmerie, her phone was last located on the afternoon of the day she disappeared, within a 250-meter radius between the areas known as “Les Grands Ormeaux” and “Le Champ Salaud,” near Voulon, south of Vivonne.

Her father reported her disappearance after she did not return home following her jog. The alert was raised in the early afternoon on April 10, and since then, an extensive search operation has been launched. A team of 110 gendarmes, along with two helicopters, drones, a canine unit, divers, and 30 soldiers from the French army, are actively involved in the search efforts. The Poitiers prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the “worrying disappearance,” and numerous requests for phone data from operators have been made, with the analysis of this data currently ongoing.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau confirmed that “many resources” had been mobilized and that the search efforts are “very active.” The prosecutor’s office also emphasized that all leads are being pursued in the effort to locate Agathe. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the Vivonne police station at 05.49.43.41.15.
