Disappearance of Agathe Hilairet: 140 reports received and a hundred investigators mobilized since the appeal for witnesses

Disappearance of Agathe Hilairet: 140 Tips Received, Over 100 Investigators Mobilized, and a Judicial Inquiry Launched

Five days after the disappearance of Agathe Hilairet, a 28-year-old jogger, a major search operation remains underway in the Vienne region of western France. Since the witness appeal was launched on Friday, April 11, authorities have received 140 reports, according to a source close to the investigation.

The young woman, described as “very slim,” was last seen wearing a black pair of running shorts, a dark short-sleeved top, with her hair tied back and a phone strapped to her wrist. She went for a run on the morning of Thursday, April 10, and never returned. Her father reported her missing, prompting the opening of an investigation into a worrying disappearance.

Judicial Investigation Opened for Kidnapping and Unlawful Confinement

With no developments by Monday, the Poitiers public prosecutor’s office launched a formal judicial investigation against persons unknown for “kidnapping and unlawful confinement,” enabling expanded investigative resources.

As of Tuesday, April 15, around 100 individuals — including gendarmes, detectives from the Poitiers criminal investigation division, and command center staff — are actively involved in the search. Efforts are currently focused around the area of Voulon, south of Vivonne, where Agathe’s phone was last traced on Thursday afternoon, between the hamlets of Les Grands Ormeaux and Le Champ Salaud.

Several witnesses and people close to Agathe have already been questioned, with new interviews conducted on Sunday. Authorities continue their efforts in hopes of uncovering clues that might lead to the young woman’s whereabouts.
