Caddie receivership: the end of an era

On Tuesday July 16, the commercial division of the Saverne judicial court pronounced the liquidation of Caddie, the emblematic manufacturer of supermarket carts. This decision puts an end to a tumultuous period for the company, which still employed 110 people.

The court confirmed the absence of a viable buyer after examining two bids submitted at the end of June. One came from the Valenciennes-based Cochez group, the current owner, which specializes in transport and industrial services. The other came from Skade Management, headed by former Caddie owner Stéphane Dedieu.

Unfortunately, none of the bids met the required criteria, leading to Caddie’s total cessation of activity. This decision, difficult but inevitable according to lawyer Pierre Dulmet, comes after four receiverships since 2012. The employees, exemplary in their support for the company, have seen their rights preserved thanks to the wage guarantee mechanism.

Caddie leaves behind a legacy marked by innovation in the field of supermarket carts, but also by the economic challenges that ultimately took their toll on its survival.
