Kylian Mbappé reacts to accusations in the Swedish press concerning an investigation into rape and sexual assault. This Tuesday, his lawyer, Maître Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, spoke on the TF1 television news, giving her client’s version and that of his entourage

Following rumors published by the Swedish media, and after denouncing “fake news” the day before, Kylian Mbappé chose to defend himself through the words of his lawyer. According to Maître Canu-Bernard, the allegations concerning his involvement in the affair remain vague. She stressed that the existence of a complaint does not necessarily mean that it is directed against him, and that it does not provide any concrete proof. “At this point, we don’t even know who the complaint is against,” she said.

Regarding the striker’s lifestyle habits, the lawyer added: “Kylian Mbappé is never alone, he never finds himself in risky situations. That rules out any possibility of reprehensible behavior on his part, that’s an absolute certainty.”

Maître Canu-Bernard also described his client’s state of mind, claiming that he is “serene”, although bewildered by the extent of the media fuss surrounding this affair. “He doesn’t understand what he’s accused of, either directly or indirectly.

Finally, in the event of any summons by the Swedish courts, she assured us that Kylian Mbappé would comply with the legal procedures, while reiterating that the player is convinced of his innocence: “He has nothing to reproach himself for, and was in fact at training today, proof of his peace of mind.”
