Lina’s funeral: a final tribute in Plaine this Friday

The funeral of Lina, whose body was found near Nevers on 16 October, will be held on Friday 25 October at 2pm in the church of Saint-Arnould in Plaine. The village mayor, Patricia Simoni, confirmed to France 3 Alsace that an audio broadcast of the ceremony will be set up outside the building, reserved for relatives. Gendarmes will be on hand to provide security and keep journalists away.

Lina, aged 15, disappeared on 23 September 2023 between her home and Plaine station, on her way to visit her boyfriend. After a year-long search and investigation, her body was finally discovered near Nevers.

In a statement published on 17 October, the Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office said that it was awaiting the conclusions of the forensic examination, as an autopsy would be necessary to clarify the circumstances of the death.

The main suspect, Samuel Gonin, committed suicide on 10 July. His vehicle had been geolocated shortly after the teenager’s disappearance.
