Incidents in Rillieux-la-Pape: Two buses set on fire and a policeman injured

At around 9pm on Friday evening, a group of around twenty individuals blocked two TCL buses in the La Velette district of Rillieux-la-Pape, near Lyon, before setting them on fire. According to the Rhône prefecture, this act of vandalism led to the rapid intervention of the CRS at the scene.

During the incident, a police officer was wounded in the head by a projectile. Although his injuries were minor, he was taken to hospital for treatment.

In response to these events, the Prefect Delegate for Defense and Security, accompanied by Mayor Alexandre Vincendet, visited the scene. Transports en commun lyonnais (TCL) also reported disruptions on the affected lines, setting up exceptional terminuses due to this “malicious act”. Services are expected to be restored by 4:30 a.m. on line 33 and Saturday morning on line C5.

This is not the first time that Rillieux-la-Pape has experienced tensions, with violence having already broken out on Halloween night, with several people arrested following vehicle fires.
