Triple infanticide in Haute-Savoie: Three children found dead, mother actively sought

In Taninges, Haute-Savoie, a tragedy has rocked the small commune since November 12. Three children, aged 2, 11 and 13, were found dead in their home, victims of stab wounds. The Bonneville public prosecutor, Boris Duffau, has confirmed that their mother, Déborah, is being actively sought as part of the investigation into “voluntary manslaughter”.

Macabre discovery in a family home

The bodies of the three children were discovered in a house in Taninges by their father, who immediately alerted the emergency services. The three children came from a blended family, from two different unions. According to the public prosecutor, the autopsies and expert reports to come will clarify the circumstances of their deaths.

Mother actively sought

Déborah, the children’s 45-year-old mother and school teacher, has been sought since the discovery of the bodies. According to preliminary investigations, she was suffering from depression. More than sixty gendarmes, accompanied by a helicopter and teams of divers, are taking part in the search in the surrounding area. Hearings of family members and neighbors are also underway to shed further light on the case.

Investigation and support system

The flagrante investigation, entrusted to the Bonneville gendarmes and supported by the Chambéry research section, is aimed at establishing the exact circumstances of this tragedy. A letter was found at the family home, although no information has been confirmed as to its content.

Emotions are running high in this town of 3,500 inhabitants. A medical-psychological emergency unit has been deployed at the town hall to offer support to the shocked residents. In addition, a hotline has been set up in the schools where the mother worked, to support the teachers and students affected.

This tragedy plunges an entire community into incomprehension and sadness, giving way to an investigation that will hopefully shed light on the tragic events that befell this family.
