On Tuesday, December 17, a 16-year-old tragically lost his life during a brawl in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, near the Rodin high school.

Two teenagers charged
On Sunday, December 22, a second teenager, born in 2008, was charged with murder and placed in provisional detention as part of the investigation into this deadly brawl, according to a judicial source to franceinfo. This young person is the second to be implicated after a first 16-year-old was placed in detention on Thursday, December 20, for the same charge.

Suspicions of knife violence
The two youths are suspected of having stabbed the victim, according to a source close to the investigation. It is still to be determined which of the two inflicted the fatal blow. The suspects belong to a rival gang of the victim’s.

Tensions before the brawl
Five other teenagers, born in 2008 or 2009, have also been charged for their involvement in a group formed to prepare violence. They have been placed under judicial control. According to investigators, messages were exchanged prior to the confrontation.

The first teenager charged with murder had been placed under judicial control on October 16, 2024, for violent theft in a group. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the victim and this young person had a hostile relationship marked by violent incidents at various locations around Paris.
