Weather Forecast: An Unsettled and Cooler Start to June
The weather will be unpredictable as June begins. After a sometimes warm and stormy weekend, cooler and wetter air is moving across the country, bringing scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms. The southwest will see rain first, before it spreads to the western regions of France.
Monday, June 2: A Nation Divided Between Sun and Rain
The week starts off marked by contrasts. While the northwest experiences a gray sky with persistent showers, the southeast enjoys bright sunshine, despite some morning showers near the Alpes-Maritimes.
Although the orange thunderstorm alert has been lifted, storms are still expected in the Rhône region, Alsace, and near the Pyrenees.
Temperatures will be mild, with highs around 20°C (68°F) in Lyon, 21°C (70°F) in Paris and La Rochelle, and a warmer 23°C (73°F) in Nice on the French Riviera.
Tuesday, June 3: Showers in Brittany, Scattered Storms in the East
The unsettled pattern continues on Tuesday. Brittany starts the day with drizzle in Brest and Cherbourg, spreading along the English Channel coast by afternoon.
Storms persist in the East and around Lyon, amid a mix of clouds and sunshine across the rest of the country.
Temperatures range from a cool 16°C (61°F) in Brest and 19°C (66°F) in Biarritz, up to a warm 29°C (84°F) in Ajaccio.
Wednesday, June 4: Widespread Cloud Cover
An oceanic airflow brings cooler, unstable weather to much of France midweek. Frequent rain showers are expected in Brittany, Normandy, and along a diagonal stretching from Alsace to the Pyrenees.
Thunderstorms remain possible around Lyon, Montélimar, Marseille, and Perpignan.
Temperatures stay moderate, between 18°C and 20°C (64–68°F) across most regions.
Thursday, June 5: Sunshine Returns in the Southeast
Showers continue in western France, from Vendée to Pas-de-Calais, but become lighter and more scattered.
Meanwhile, sunshine returns to the southeast, bringing a welcome warm-up.
Highs range from 17°C (63°F) in Cherbourg and 18°C (64°F) in western areas, up to 22°C (72°F) in Limoges and 24°C (75°F) in Toulouse, highlighting regional contrasts.
Friday, June 6: Rain Dominates Except in the South
Friday will be the wettest day of the week, with rain widespread except along the Mediterranean coast, Corsica, and near Biarritz on the Atlantic coast.
Thunderstorms are expected particularly in the Rhône region, Cantal, and near the Pyrenees.
Temperatures rebound in the center, south, and east with highs up to 29°C (84°F) in Ajaccio, 26°C (79°F) in Montélimar and Tarbes, and 24°C (75°F) in Lyon and Strasbourg.
Meanwhile, cooler conditions persist in the west and north, with highs of only 17°C (63°F) in Brest, 19°C (66°F) in Lille, and 20°C (68°F) in Paris.
