Disappearance of Agathe Hilairet: the Poitiers public prosecutor’s office opens an investigation into kidnapping and false imprisonment

Disappearance of Agathe Hilairet: Judicial Investigation Opened for Abduction and Unlawful Confinement

Four days after the disappearance of 28-year-old Agathe Hilairet, the mystery remains unresolved. The young woman went for a jog on the morning of Thursday, April 10, in Vivonne, in the Vienne department, and never returned. In light of the troubling circumstances and continued lack of information, the Poitiers public prosecutor announced on Monday, April 14, that a judicial investigation has been opened for “abduction and unlawful confinement against persons unknown.”

This shift in legal classification broadens the scope of the investigation and grants investigators access to enhanced technical resources, including DNA analysis, digital data examination, house searches, and extended interviews.

Exceptional Search Efforts Deployed

On the ground, around a hundred gendarmes, supported by canine units and specialized teams, continue to comb the rural and wooded areas around Vivonne. Aquatic probing has also been conducted in nearby water sources. According to Prosecutor Cyril Lacombe, search teams have meticulously covered every possible route the jogger may have taken, guided in part by tracking dogs.

Since a public appeal for witnesses was launched on Friday, nearly 90 tips have been received. Several witnesses and acquaintances have already been interviewed, with more testimonies being gathered as the investigation progresses.

Public Call: Description of the Missing Jogger

Agathe Hilairet is described as very slim, wearing a black running short and a dark short-sleeved top. Her hair was tied back, she was carrying a small running bag, and her phone was strapped to her wrist at the time of her disappearance.

The investigation, now bolstered by expanded legal and operational resources, continues with the hope of finding answers in this increasingly worrying case.
