Disappearance of Agathe in Vienne: investigators focus their search on a targeted area of 3 km², according to the public prosecutor’s office

Disappearance of Agathe Hilairet: Search Efforts Narrow to a 3 km² Area Around Vivonne

Three days after the disappearance of Agathe Hilairet, a 28-year-old jogger, the search continues intensively this Sunday, April 13, in the Vienne region of western France. She went out for a run Thursday morning from her parents’ home in Vivonne, about 20 kilometers south of Poitiers, and has not been seen since. Her father raised the alarm when she failed to return and could not be reached by phone.

A Tightened and Targeted Search Operation

Since Thursday, a large-scale operation has been underway. Initially focused on a 100 km² area spanning the towns of Vivonne, Voulon, Celle-Lévescault, and Gençay, the search has now been narrowed. According to a statement from the Poitiers prosecutor’s office, efforts are now concentrated on a restricted 3 km² area around Vivonne.

On Sunday, around fifty gendarmes remained mobilized, supported by divers from the Arcachon nautical brigade conducting underwater surveys, as well as teams equipped with metal detectors. The operation also includes firefighters, volunteers, and members of Agathe’s running club, who are familiar with the forested trails she frequently trained on.

Ongoing Witness Interviews and Call for Information

Alongside the field search, investigators continue to question people close to Agathe. According to Prosecutor Cyril Lacombe, new interviews are being conducted, particularly focusing on her personal, family, and social circles. The public appeal for witnesses has already led to about thirty reports, which are currently being verified. Authorities are urging anyone with useful information to come forward.

An Experienced Runner Who Vanished Without a Trace

Agathe Hilairet is described as a discreet young woman and an experienced trail runner, often covering distances of 15 to 20 kilometers per session. According to the missing person alert, she is 1.65 meters tall, weighs 35 kilograms, and was last seen wearing black shorts, a dark short-sleeved top, and carrying a running pack. Her hair was tied back, and her phone was strapped to her wrist.
