Disturbing disappearance in the Vienne: a jogger sought by more than 100 gendarmes

Concerning Disappearance of a Jogger in Vivonne: Major Search Operation Underway

Since the morning of Thursday, April 10, a 28-year-old jogger from Vivonne (Vienne) has been missing. She went out for a run, as she regularly does, but never returned home. The alarm was raised around 10:30 a.m. by her father, who became worried when she failed to return.

Vast and Challenging Terrain

Search efforts have been focused on a wooded area south of Poitiers, a vast and difficult terrain the young woman was known to frequent. She was reportedly accustomed to running up to 20 kilometers on her outings. For now, no hypothesis has been ruled out.

Extensive Resources Deployed

Authorities have launched a large-scale search operation, which was intensified on Friday, April 11. A total of 110 gendarmes, around 50 firefighters, 30 soldiers from the French Army, as well as two helicopters, four drones, a canine unit, divers, and a nautical brigade boat have been mobilized. A command post has been set up on-site.

The French Office for Biodiversity, civil protection units, and the jogger’s running club are also participating in the effort.

Rose-Marie Bertaud, mayor of Vivonne, expressed the community’s concern: “For now, the gendarmerie has asked that we don’t organize independent search parties unless they’re officially coordinated,”, describing the town as usually calm and peaceful.

Investigation Launched

H24 MEDIA reports that an investigation has been opened into the disappearance. Search operations continue with urgency and determination in hopes of quickly locating the missing woman.
