Tragedy in Essonne: Body of 11-Year-Old Schoolgirl Found Dead, Two People in Custody

Tragedy struck Épinay-sur-Orge (Essonne) on Friday, February 7. Louise, an 11-year-old schoolgirl who went missing after leaving her school, was found dead a few hours later in the Bois des Templiers in Longjumeau. This incident quickly led to the opening of an investigation for “murder of a minor under the age of 15.”

A Disturbing Disappearance Followed by a Grim Discovery
On Friday, around 3 p.m., Louise left her school but never made it home. Concerned, her parents reported her missing later in the afternoon, triggering an extensive search operation involving law enforcement, a helicopter, and drones. The investigation quickly directed the search towards the Bois des Templiers, near the school. It was there, at 2:30 a.m., that the lifeless body of the young girl was found. According to sources close to the investigation, the victim’s face showed signs of violence.

Murder Investigation and Custody of Two Individuals
The investigation, initially launched for a concerning disappearance, was soon reclassified as “murder of a minor under 15” and handed over to the Versailles judicial police. Two individuals, a 22-year-old man known to the police for minor offenses, and a 20-year-old woman, have been taken into custody. Verifications are underway to determine their precise involvement in this tragedy.

An autopsy is scheduled at the forensic institute in Corbeil-Essonnes to determine the exact cause of the young girl’s death.

Psychological Support for the School Community
In response to the emotional impact of this tragedy, the Versailles Academy Rectorate announced the implementation of a psychological support unit starting Monday at Louise’s school, aimed at both students and staff. Local authorities and the educational community have expressed their deep sorrow and support for the victim’s family.

A memorial mass for Louise is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Saint-Dominique Savio Chapel, located near the school.

Authorities have called for discretion and respect for the grief of the victim’s family during this difficult time. The investigation is ongoing to shed full light on the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
