Thousands of demonstrators rallied today in Malmö, Sweden, to voice their opposition to Israel’s participation in Eurovision. The protest comes as representatives from 26 countries battle it out for a place in the final, scheduled for Saturday 11 May, in a tense atmosphere marked by ongoing events in Gaza

The demonstration, which began in Malmö’s central square, spread to the city’s streets, with the order to stay away from the Malmö Arena, the venue for the competition. Further rallies are planned in the coming days, reflecting the intensity of opinion on this issue.

Some artists taking part in Eurovision, including Magnus Børmark representing Norway with his group Gåte, have publicly called for a lasting ceasefire and are supporting the demonstrations. However, Israel’s presence at the contest has raised tensions, with threats made against Israeli singer Eden Golan on social networks.

Despite these controversies, Eden Golan remains focused on her performance, affirming her determination to represent her country in this international competition.
