Shooting at Austerlitz Station: Two Injured After Intervention by Railway Security
A man pulls out a fake weapon during a check, prompting a response from the officers
On Monday, February 3rd, two people were injured by gunfire during an intervention by the Railway Security (SUGE) at Austerlitz Station. The incident occurred when an individual was caught drawing swastikas on the walls of the station. During the check, the man pulled out a weapon, which turned out to be a fake firearm, prompting the officers to quickly respond by firing their service weapons.
The assailant was injured, and another person, not involved in the incident, was also struck by the gunfire. Both injured individuals were treated by emergency responders at the scene. For security reasons, a perimeter was set up around the station, the plaza was closed to the public, and traffic was halted on the Austerlitz platform.
Law enforcement officers, including police and soldiers from the Vigipirate security plan, are present at the scene, and access to the station remained disrupted, particularly for RER C passengers, who were unable to access the station until after 4:15 PM.
