Mohamed Amra will be taken from prison “next week” for questioning

Mohamed Amra: Prison Extraction Scheduled for Next Week Sparks Outrage Among Prison Staff Unions

Mohamed Amra, the drug trafficker nicknamed “La Mouche” (“The Fly”), is set to be transferred next week from his high-security prison in Condé-sur-Sarthe (Orne) to be questioned by investigative judges from the National Jurisdiction for Combating Organized Crime (Junalco) at the Paris courthouse. The information, first revealed by Le Parisien, was confirmed on Tuesday, June 3, by one of his lawyers, Lucas Montagnier, by a source close to the case, and confirmed in the same terms to H24 NEWS.

This decision has provoked outrage among prison staff unions, still reeling from the deadly attack in Incarville. On May 14, 2024, during a previous transfer of Mohamed Amra, a heavily armed commando intercepted a prison van at the Incarville toll booth (Eure), killing two prison officers and seriously injuring three others. The inmate escaped and remained on the run for nine months before being arrested on February 22, 2025, in Bucharest, Romania.

Exceptional Security Measures

Speaking on TF1 Tuesday evening, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed that the transfer would take place under “exceptional security conditions,” specifying that elite units such as RAID or GIGN would be deployed.
“These are men and women of great courage, and I know that nothing will happen that could undermine the security and authority of the State,” he stated.

Unions Strongly Opposed to the Transfer

Prison staff unions remain deeply critical.
“We are outraged and scandalized,” Wilfried Fonck, national secretary of the Ufap-Unsa Justice union, told AFP.
“The use of videoconferencing should have been the default option. Even if the investigation required his presence, the judge could have traveled to the prison,” he added, calling the decision “incomprehensible and unacceptable in light of the Incarville tragedy.”

A High-Risk Profile

Originally from Seine-Maritime, Mohamed Amra is implicated in several drug-related criminal cases and is suspected of multiple escape attempts.
In early May, signs of a new escape plan were detected: four masked individuals were spotted near Évreux, and a sawed-through bar was found in his cell.

The sprawling case continues to mobilize significant law enforcement and judicial resources. Thirty-eight people, including Amra himself, have been indicted.
