Refusal to Comply in Paris: 13 Injured, Including 10 Police Officers, After a Car Chase

A high-speed chase through southern Paris led to a crash involving three police vehicles, injuring 13 people, including 10 police officers, on the morning of Saturday, March 22. The driver responsible for the incident, along with his two passengers, was arrested and taken to the hospital, with no life-threatening injuries reported.

A Chase Ending in a Collision

The incident began around 5:45 a.m. in the 14th arrondissement, when a driver refused to comply with a police traffic stop. Pursued by law enforcement, he continued his escape through the capital before being intercepted in the 15th arrondissement, where he collided with three police cars.

The three occupants of the vehicle, aged 30, 22, and 19, two of whom are French nationals, were hospitalized and will be questioned later. Two of them were already known to the police. The reasons behind the driver’s refusal to comply remain unclear at this stage.

An Ongoing Investigation

The Judicial Accident Investigation Unit has been assigned to handle the case. According to Paris Police Chief Laurent Nuñez, the vehicle was not reported stolen, and toxicology tests are underway to determine whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.

Injured Police Officers Released from the Hospital

The 10 injured police officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. After receiving medical attention, they were able to leave the facility later in the day.

The Paris Police Chief praised the officers’ dedication and expressed his support for them following this intense operation.
