SNCF Sûreté Ferroviaire (Suge) officers fired eight shots at a man armed with a mincer, hitting him four times. The incident took place near Tolbiac metro station, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, on the night of Thursday 2 to Friday 3 May

According to information provided by the CLPress agency, confirmed by the Paris public prosecutor’s office to H24 MEDIA, four Suge officers were in an unmarked vehicle leaving the metro station when the armed man tried to open the vehicle door.

Three of the four officers managed to get out of the vehicle through the other side of the door that the man had opened. The man then approached the officers who had got out of the vehicle. According to the initial findings of the investigation, the man continued to advance towards the officers, who then opened fire.

According to the Paris public prosecutor’s report, eight shots were fired, four of which hit the man, whose identity remains unknown. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the attempted homicide of a public official has been opened and assigned to the Third Judicial Police District. The Service de Renseignement Territorial (SRT) is also responsible for verifying the use of the weapon by the officers.
