Six ultra-right-wing activists arrested in Paris after violent attack on immigrant workers’ association

Violent Attack in Paris: Six Far-Right Militants Arrested After Assault on Immigrant Workers’ Association

On February 16, 2025, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, a violent attack took place in the courtyard of a building housing the ACTIT immigrant workers’ association. The incident occurred around 5:00 PM when a group of masked individuals entered the building’s courtyard, armed with shards of glass bottles.

The group, consisting of around thirty individuals according to the prosecution, violently attacked a man, inflicting serious injuries, including one potentially caused by a stabbing weapon. The victim, a CGT union member, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. However, after intensive care, his life is no longer in danger.

Swift Response from Law Enforcement

Law enforcement, responding quickly after the attack, arrested six of the assailants, who were found in a metro station. All are linked to the radical far-right movement. While the attack involved around twenty masked individuals, authorities state that several managed to flee.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for attempted voluntary manslaughter to determine the motivations and involvement of each suspect. In the meantime, the CGT union, through its General Secretary Sophie Binet, expressed support for the victims and condemned the violence, highlighting the fascist nature of the attack.

The incident occurred while a film was being screened by the antifascist collective Young Struggle Paris. The collective, as well as several lawmakers and activists, expressed solidarity and condemned the assault, calling it a fascist attack. A gathering is planned for Monday, February 18, at 6:00 PM, in front of Gare de l’Est, to protest this violence and call for resistance against the far-right.
