Stellantis recalls 68,000 cars in France for a defect in PureTech engines, following a large campaign for faulty airbags

The Stellantis group, already affected by a major recall related to faulty airbags, announced on Tuesday, February 25, a new recall of 68,000 vehicles due to a defect in the oil jet cooling nozzles. This operation concerns compact models produced between 2022 and 2024, including 57,000 Citroën C3, 8,000 Opel Corsa, and 2,500 Peugeot 208 equipped with the 1.2 PureTech engine, a three-cylinder gasoline engine. The issue, caused by a manufacturing defect from a supplier, presents a fire risk if a failure of the part leads to oil leaking onto the exhaust.

A Simple Yet Essential Repair

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail and will need to visit their dealer for a free repair that will take about 30 minutes. This operation includes replacing the engine oil and oil filter to prevent any incidents related to the defect in the nozzles.

Stellantis Facing a Series of Recalls Due to Defects

This recall follows another major incident involving faulty airbags, which affected 236,000 vehicles in northern France last week. Due to the accelerated degradation of certain components caused by heat and humidity, a recall was initiated to replace airbags that could cause serious injuries. Stellantis continues its commitment to apply the precautionary principle, taking swift action to ensure the safety of its customers.
