The departments of Dordogne and Corrèze have been placed on orange alert on Sunday, April 20, due to the risk of floods causing significant overflow, particularly along the Vézère, Loyre, and Auvézère rivers.

Impressive Water Levels and Multiple Interventions

Since the night from Saturday to Sunday, sudden rises in water levels have been observed, especially along the Vézère, which has overflowed, causing flooding in areas such as Le Bugue. Several vehicles have been submerged, and 28 fire brigade interventions have taken place to evacuate cars. Local authorities, while concerned, emphasized that no casualties have been reported.

A Controlled Situation but Still Problematic

The situation remains under control, but local authorities, particularly in Montignac-Lascaux, remain vigilant in light of forecasts predicting further overflow. The Vézère is expected to rise by another meter, which has led to the establishment of a crisis unit to manage the potential worsening of the situation.
