War in Gaza: Israel accuses Hamas of killing the Bibas brothers and promises reprisals

Murder of the Bibas Brothers: Israeli Army Blames Hamas

On February 21, 2025, the Israeli army confirmed that the Bibas brothers, Ariel and Kfir, aged four years and eight months at the time of their abduction by Hamas on October 7, 2023, were brutally killed by terrorists “with bare hands.” This announcement follows Hamas’ repeated claims that the children had been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. Their bodies were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), before being returned to Israel.

A Cold and Premeditated Execution

In a televised statement, Israeli army spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari condemned the cold-blooded execution of the two children by terrorists. He clarified that they were not shot but killed with bare hands, and that horrific acts were committed to cover up these atrocities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned these murders, calling their perpetrators “monsters,” and vowed to do everything in his power to bring those responsible to justice.

The Bitterness of the Bibas Family

Meanwhile, the Bibas family expressed their grief and anger, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu of having “abandoned” them during the Hamas attack and throughout the captivity of their loved ones. “We have not received an apology from you,” lamented Ofri Bibas, the children’s aunt. The family is still awaiting answers about the fate of Shiri Bibas, their mother, whose body was mistakenly identified as that of another woman, causing shock in Israel. Despite this tragic situation, Netanyahu promised to “bring Shiri home” and ensure that Hamas “pays the price” for these violations.
