War in Ukraine: Extremely tense exchange between Zelensky and Trump at the White House, the latter deeming the negotiations ‘very difficult

Tensions at the White House: Heated Exchange Between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky

On February 28, Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky met at the White House to discuss several important issues, including an agreement on the exploitation of strategic minerals in Ukraine. However, the exchange between the two leaders was extremely tense. The U.S. president sharply criticized his Ukrainian counterpart, accusing him of “playing with World War III” and being in “a very difficult position,” stating that he “did not have the cards in hand.”

A Tense Confrontation and Threats of Abandonment
Trump angrily told Zelensky, “You should be grateful,” and added, “Make a deal or we will leave you behind.” U.S. Vice President JD Vance also accused the Ukrainian president of “disrespecting” the United States, stressing that his attitude toward the American administration was unacceptable, particularly in the context of efforts to protect Ukraine.

Zelensky insisted that he was not ready to compromise with Vladimir Putin, calling the Russian president a “killer.” On the other hand, Trump warned that any future negotiations would be “very difficult,” emphasizing that Zelensky would have to make “compromises.”

A Meeting Marked by Harsh Criticism and Difficult Negotiations
This meeting follows Trump’s earlier harsh comments about Zelensky, who he called a “dictator without elections” and stated that his presence at the negotiations was “not very important.”

The summit, which focused on major strategic issues, was preceded by the release of statistics on Ukrainian refugees, with nearly 5.2 million displaced people, 37% of whom are in Germany and Poland. Meanwhile, an agreement on investments in metals and hydrocarbons was discussed, although the initially proposed amount of $500 billion from Trump disappeared from the final version.
