Weather forecast for the school holiday weekend: high temperatures and showers expected

The upcoming weekend is expected to be milder than the previous ones, with temperatures set to rise, according to Météo-France’s forecasts

However, some light showers are expected on Saturday, particularly between the Pyrenees and the Hauts-de-France. Spring is on the horizon, and weather conditions are set to improve in the coming days, despite a cloudy Friday, February 21.

A wave of mild weather settles in

Currently, a wave of mild weather is sweeping across France, with temperatures ranging from 12°C in Brest to 19°C in Biarritz. However, a disturbance will pass through the country from Friday to Sunday, bringing some light showers, particularly on Saturday morning.

Saturday: some showers and cooler temperatures

Saturday, February 22, will start with light rain between Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Normandy, as well as between the Pyrenees and Hauts-de-France. The wind will weaken throughout the day, according to Météo-France. Temperatures will be slightly cooler than Friday but will remain pleasant, ranging from 13°C to 16°C in many regions. The southeast of France will see cooler highs, with 10°C in Aurillac and 12°C in Gap.

Sunday: drier and more pleasant weather

Sunday, February 23, will bring drier weather with pleasant temperatures ranging from 12°C to 15°C in the north, and 14°C to 18°C in the south. The southeast will continue to experience moderate rainfall, but most regions will enjoy sunny spells thanks to the return of the Azores high-pressure system. Some light showers and snowflakes may also occur above 1,600 meters.

Monday: a cooler start to the week

The beginning of the following week will bring cooler temperatures and rain across most of the country. Only the south may escape this new disturbance. By mid-week, a slight drop in temperatures will allow snow to return at around 1,400 meters in the mountain ranges.

So, while mild weather returns for the weekend, the following week will bring a notable change with cooler temperatures and the return of snow on higher ground.
